Crust

Good day,

Sorry I've been slow on the cancer updates. Here's the latest:

Over the past month and a half or so I've been dealing with a lot of eye irritation. They have been red and foggy. Last Thursday I woke up at 12:30am with searing pain in my right eye. I took a couple ibuprofen and forced myself back to sleep. When I awoke the pain had, at least partially, subsided, but I was left extremely sensitive to any light. Over the course of the day it calmed down, but was still fairly uncomfortable. I gave my nurse a call at the SCCA, told him my symptoms, he called Dr. T, then called me back. Basically he said that if I can tolerate it to just do so until my appointment the following Tuesday. If it became intolerable I was supposed to stop taking my medication for a few days, then start back at a lower dose.

I was like "F-That!"

So I manned up. Then Tuesday morning I woke up again at 12:30 with the same pain in my left eye, but slightly more severe. Took some ibuprofen and, again, forced myself back to sleep. When I woke up I could hardly open the eye. I was sitting at my computer in my darkened bedroom with dark sunglasses on, and still the light was a bit much. At the appointment that afternoon, Dr. T said I had conjunctivitis (pink eye) and prescribed some eye drops. Again he thought I should consider taking a five-day break from the meds, but I refused.

So, long-story-short, the eye drops are working. I'm still getting a little crust in the corners, and things still look a bit foggy, but a definite improvement from searing pain.

Other then that, I'm super excited about the open mic coming up next Wednesday at 8:30. I'd suggest showing up early :)

Open Mic!!

Many of you may know (and many more may not) that I've been preparing to perform at an open mic with my very good friend KatiRose. The date has finally been set for this, I thought I would make it public in case anyone wants to come out and see the spectacle. It will be Wednesday the 19th, the show starts at 8:30, but I don't know when we'll play. It all depends on where we get on the sign up sheet.

This is going to be a very short performance, only three songs. However, I'm doing a fair amount of singing, which I normally don't do, so it might be worth it just to hear my voice crack :)  Luckily for me KatiRose has a GREAT voice.

This is going to be at the Hopvine pub on 15th and Republican (http://www.3pubs.com/Hopvine.html). The open mic nights are already their busiest night, even though they take place on a Wednesday. I have a feeling there will be an abnormally large crowd there for this performance, and they can only let so many people in because of fire codes and such, so it'll probably be a good idea to get there early or you might end up watching from the sidewalk. It should be a very good time!

In-House

Good day.

I was forced to move this blog over to blogspot due to the disharmonious  relationship between tumblr.com and disqus.com (the site that hosts the comments portion of the blog). I think blogspot has an "in-house" commenting system, seems like the simplest way to do things, and I'm left wondering if I should have started here. Oh well, we live and learn...

So this is a welcome to my new blog. I'm going to abandon the other one, so if you'd like to follow along, please change your bookmarks now, I'll wait...

Very well then. In terms of updates, I recently got a heated jacket liner for my motorcycle. It connects directly to the battery and is like being bundled up inside an electric blanket. Very nice for cold mornings.

Other then that, not a lot going on. This is the last day of my holiday break from work, I think I'm going to try to organize my closets.
